September 29, 2023- Three not-for-profit organizations: Tabernacle Baptist Church, Northeast Community Fund, and Block by Block, are working together to serve the Decatur Community during the Serve One Weekend.
The event kicked off on Friday, September 29th, and will continue through the weekend.
Serve One Weekend is organized by Tabernacle Baptist Church. The Church’s mission is to help its members give back to the community through service projects.
Northeast Community Fund supported this weekend of service by identifying residents in need of wheelchair ramps and providing guidelines to construction leads, ensuring that the projects meet code requirements. Block by Block also supported the project by providing 50% of funding for wheelchair ramp installations.
On September 29th and 30th, volunteers will install 7 wheelchair ramps for residents in need. Tabernacle Baptist Church is also funding a bathroom remodel at Oasis Day Center and planting trees at Shiloh Baptist Church.
This Saturday, September 30th, community members are invited to celebrate the culmination of Serve One Weekend by attending the Decatur Community Block Party at E.J. Muffley School.
