October 31, 2023 -People looking to remove paper clutter and keep their information secure van take advantage of two upcoming paper shredding events.
The NAACP Decatur Branch will be hosting a Community Shred Day and Resource Event at Life Changers Church on Saturday, November 4th between 9a and 12p. In addition to paper shredding, The NAACP has partnered with community agencies and organizations to provide information about the resources available to the public. Participants are limited to 5 boxes per person. They will also be holding a drawing to win a free personal shredder.
In addition, the Macon County Environmental Management Department will be holding a paper shredding event on Saturday, November 11th, 2023. This event will be held at the Macon County Environmental Management Recycle Center located at 1750 N. 21st Street in Decatur from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. This is a free event for residents only, and they will not accept documents or files from businesses.
Residents can bring up to 5 boxes/bags of paper documents to be shredded on-site, and then recycled at Midwest Fiber. They are asking residents to remove all binder clips, paper clips, and staples prior to bringing files to be shredded. No appointments are needed for this event.
