November 13, 2023 – Experience the Homestead Prairie Farm after dark during the annual Candlelight Tour on Saturday, November 18. This special event open house will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Rock Springs Conservation Area.
Participants can glimpse at what an evening in the 1860s was like at the Homestead Prairie Farm. Lit by candlelight and lamplight, interpreters in period clothing will guide participants through the home. This event is free for all ages and no registration is required.
Homestead Prairie Farm is a living history site that portrays 1860s rural Illinois. Built around the historic Trobaugh-Good House, the site includes an heirloom vegetable garden, herb garden, and a woodworking shop. Homestead Prairie Farm opens for tours every Saturday and Sunday, from 1-4 pm from June through October. Admission is free.
