December 5, 2023 – The Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening of Air Evac Lifeteam 182, the newest emergency air medical transport base in Macon County.
Air Evac Lifeteam offers yearly memberships of $99 for your entire household, and $79 for seniors (60+). This membership covers the cost of air transport if flown by an AMCN provider. Air Evac Lifeteam is located at 1250 S. Airport Road in Decatur. The base features a Bell 206 aircraft and is staffed around the clock with an Air Evac pilot, flight nurse and flight paramedic.
The helicopter and crew are based out of Macon County, becoming Air Evac’s 13th base in the state. Megan Kelly, program director for the new Air Evac base, said the new aircraft will be an additional resource for citizens in central Illinois.
“The Macon County air medical base will position us alongside our ground ambulance partners at Abbott EMS,” Kelly said. “This is a regional asset that gives us another safe option and increased capabilities to serve residents and visitors of central Illinois.”
Air Evac Lifeteam is a participating provider in the AirMedCare Network (AMCN), the nation’s largest air medical transport membership program with more than 320 air medical locations across 38 states.
