The second single from Robert Plant's second solo album, “In The Mood” peaked at Number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The video for the song — an expressionistic piece that featured shots of Plant gazing at a lemon — was popular on MTV.
With its gauzy, atmospheric arrangement, “In The Mood” reflected Plant's approach during the early part of his solo career, when he was stepping away from Led Zeppelin's harder rock and creating a different kind of sound.
Plant wrote most of the songs on The Principle Of Moments in Ibiza, Spain, and recorded them in Wales with chief collaborator Robbie Blunt — an old friend who also worked on Plant's first solo albums — and noted drummers Phil Collins of Genesis and Barriemore Barlow, formerly of Jethro Tull.
The Principle Of Moments was released on Es Peranza, a new label Plant formed after Led Zeppelin's Swan Song imprint was closed.
The Principle Of Moments peaked at Number Eight on the Billboard 200 and sold more than a million copies. It hit Number Seven in the U.K.
Plant staged his first-ever solo tour in support of The Principal Of Moments, hitting the road in North America in the summer of 1983 with Collins on drums. Little Feat's Richie Hayward played drums on the European leg of the tour.
Throughout the tour, Plant refused to play Led Zeppelin songs, and the shows featured only material from his two solo albums.
