New Memorial Specialty Care Cardiologist to Host Free Educational Event

January 24, 2024 -Memorial Medical is inviting the public to join interventional cardiologist, Dr. Ling Twohig, for a free educational event in recognition of American Heart Month at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

At 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, Dr. Twohig will present the basics about cardiac stents, including what they are, how they are used and what patients can expect. A Q&A session will follow his presentation. The event is free, but registration is requested at  Heart Stents and Recovery | Memorial Health.

Dr. Twohig, who joined Memorial in early January, is the newest interventional cardiologist with Memorial Specialty Care Cardiology.

He earned a doctor of osteopathy degree from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Business Administration degree from Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Dr. Twohig also served as a general medical officer in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Columbus Air Force Base.

He completed a residency in internal medicine at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, a general cardiology fellowship at Magnolia Regional Health Center and an interventional cardiology fellowship at HCA Healthcare/USF Morsani College of Medicine GME. He is quadruple board certified, with expertise in internal medicine, general cardiology, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology.

“It’s fitting my arrival in Decatur coincides with Heart Month,” Dr. Twohig said. “I’m excited to get to know the area and to help my patients improve their heart health and quality of life.”
