The University of Illinois Extension is offering Master Gardening classes to Macon and Piatt counties beginning February 6th through April 17th
Classes will be held in Decatur and Monticello. Decatur classes will start February 7 through April 17 on Wednesdays 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Macon County Extension Office, 3351 N. President Howard Brown Blvd., Monticello classes start February 6 through April 16 on Tuesdays 9:00am – 12:00pm at the Piatt County Extension Office, 210 S. Market St.
The training will teach volunteers about botany, annuals and perennials, soils, insects, woody ornamentals, vegetables, fruits, turf, integrated pest management, and wildlife. Upon completion of training, volunteers must log 40 hours as interns to become certified Master Gardener volunteers. To remain certified, active Master Gardener volunteers must complete ten hours of continuing education and volunteer 20 hours in approved projects yearly.
A $175 training fee is required, but fee waivers are available. Visit go.illinois.edu/MgTrainingDmp for more information and to register by January 29.
