January 31, 2024 – The Salvation Army’s thrift store on North Water is closed temporarily while the store gets a facelift.

According to the Salvation Army, they expect the store to open in 45 days or sooner, adding “the store will be re-merchandised with a fresh look and service.” The reset will also include new signage on the building.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store is still receiving donations from 10-2 Monday through Friday so that it can have fresh inventory for the relaunch. The store hopes to extend those hours within the next few weeks.

Major Atkins, of The Salvation Army Thrift Store staff, said “We are grateful for our shoppers’ and donors’ patience, and we are looking forward to creating a better store to serve Decatur and surrounding communities.”
