Macon Resources launches “Paint the Town Orange” campaign for Development Disability Awareness Month

March 2, 2024 –March is celebrated nationally as Developmental Disability Awareness Month, and Macon Resources is launching an effort to “Paint the Town Orange” to raise awareness of and promote inclusion for people with developmental disabilities.   

MRI is asking for businesses, nonprofits, schools, and other organizations to help the campaign. Participation is free, as the goal of this event is to raise awareness. “Paint the Town Orange” partners will receive a handmade orange paperchain to display at their business, orange ribbons for staff to wear, and a framed graphic detailing how to promote awareness and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities.  

“The goal of this campaign is to promote inclusion and acceptance of people with developmental disabilities,” says Amy Bliefnick, President/CEO of Macon Resources. “Sixteen percent of people in Macon County have a developmental disability, and this month is so important because we want people everywhere to know how much value they add to our world.”
