Macon County Conservation District to present “Women in Conservation and Forestry” on March 9th

March 7, 2024 – In honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, the Macon County Conservation District is hosting “Women in Conservation and Forestry” at the Rock Springs Nature Center on March 9th at 10 am.

The program is a free opportunity for participants to discover the contributions made by women in shaping the fields of conservation and forestry.

Marketing Specialist Ashton Nunn the program is a great way to celebrate Women’s History Month. “We hear a lot about the contributions of men, but many are unaware of the remarkable women who have played a significant role,” Nunn said.  “This event is a great way to celebrate by learning about pioneers like Rosaline Barrow Edge, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and Hazel M. Johnson.”

The event is free and no registration is required.
