March 7, 2024 – Richland Community College’s EnRich Educational Campus Housing Project will receive $500,000 in the $460 federal billion spending bill passed Wednesday.

The funding was part of Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski’s Community Project Funding package that included  $136.1 million for 15 projects throughout Illinois’ 13th Congressional District.

Once the partial federal spending bill is signed into law by President Biden, the $500,000 funding to EnRich’s Educational Campus Housing Project will establish housing for students entering the EV Workforce Academy, AgAcademy and the school’s nursing program.

Wednesday’s federal spending package included only half of appropriations bills that need to be passed by March 22nd in order to fully fund the federal government. The long-overdue funding package is expected to pass the Senate and be signed into law by President Biden later this week, allowing Congress to avert a full government shutdown.
