March 18, 2024 – Tuesday is Primary Election Day in Macon County, but there are only a few races where Republican voters have a chance to determine who will be on the ballot in November.

In the 13th Congressional District, Thomas Clatterbuck, R-Champaign, and Joshua Loyd, R-Virden, are vying for their party’s nomination later this month in the contest for Illinois’ 13th Congressional District, which snakes from a majority of the Metro East to Springfield and on to Urbana-Champaign. The winner will take on incumbent Congresswoman Niki Budzinski.

In the race for State Representative in the 88th district, Reagan Deering, R-Decatur and Chuck Erickson, R-Bloomington are vying to replace Representative Dan Caulkins, R-Decatur, who is not seeking re-election after serving since 2019.

In the race for State Representative in the 107th district, incumbent Representative Brad Halbrook R-Shelbyville, is hoping to keep his seat by beating his challenger Marsha Web, R-Macon.

Lastly, in the race for Coroner, three Republican candidates, Jerry Kashefska, Michael Burkham, and Whalen Vancil, are vying to take on Tiffany Hall, the Democratic candidate for Coroner in the fall.
