April 17, 2024- The Governor Richard J. Oglesby Mansion will be hosting their first 2024 Open House on Sunday, April 28.
The event will be held from 2pm-4pm. A $2 per person donation is requested. Photos inside the home are encouraged.
“We are fortunate to have this beautiful home as a vessel to tell the stories of the life of the Governor,” says Board President Carol Pelz. The docents are given facts and lore to share with our visitors annually.
Richard James Oglesby was an American soldier and Republican politician from Illinois, who served three non-consecutive terms as Governor of Illinois and as a United States Senator from Illinois. He is best known for his branding of candidate Abraham Lincoln in the pivotal presidential campaign of 1860.
