History of the Heartland Presents Third Annual Stained Glass Stories Tour

May 9th, 2024 – History of the Heartland invites the public to explore selected churches of Central Illinois at the third annual Stained Glass Stories Tour on Sunday, May 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This year’s tour features five distinct churches, each showcasing stained glass and history behind them.
The event is free and open to the public and photography is welcome. Tour guides will be available at each church to share stories and insights into their unique stained glass.
Ayn Owens, event coordinator, highlights the local significance of the tour, stating, “People often drive to St. Louis or Chicago to see similar displays that are right here in Central Illinois.”
Churches Featured:
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church — 407 E Eldorado St
St. James Catholic Church — 742 E Clay St
St. John’s Episcopal Church — 130 W Eldorado St
First Presbyterian Church — 201 West Prairie Ave
Central Christian Church — 650 West William St
Participants are welcome to start the tour at any of the five churches and explore at their own pace.
