In the GRAND FINALE of the Teacher of the Month 2023-2024 Presented by Corley Family Dental, Glenda Williamson Realty, and 1st MidAmerica Credit Union, we make our way to the most consistently nominated Teacher of this school year! At Pershing Early Learning Center, there is a Pre-K teacher who has been nominated each month through the entire year. Not to mention, she has put herself to the test of learning different languages to best communicate with her students. There isn’t a “classroom” to Ashley Majors, there are individual students who she meets where they are in their journey and helps them navigate the new world of “school”! We knew there was no other way to close out such an incredible year of surprising teachers than with surprising one who never wavered in her dedication to her students, her excitement each school day, and her genuine supportive nature. Congratulations to Ashley Majors! Here is what some of her (many) nominations said:
“Ashley is one of the bilingual pre-k teachers over at Pershing. Not only is she fluent in two languages, she is also learning Haitian and American Sign Language for two other students in her class. She goes above and beyond for her students to ensure they have what they need both in school and outside. Ms. Major deserves recognition for her continued dedication to the profession. There is no one more deserving!”
“Ashley is going above and beyond to communicate with her students. She is the ESL teacher at Pershing requiring her to be fluent in both Spanish and English. BUT she is also learning two other languages (sign language and another spoken language). She has a deaf student and one that speaks their native tongue. Ashley knows 2 languages and is learning 2 more to meet the needs of her students.”
“Ashley goes above and beyond to meet the needs of all learners. She differentiates instruction to reach those that are high achievers as well as students with significant language needs and disabilities. She has a positive attitude and makes learning fun. She accepts and embraces every child in her room, and they all feel like they are her favorite. She has excellent relationships with the parents of her students.”
“Ms. Major is always a positive force in her classroom and at school events. She is always watching out for her students’ best interest, including learning two additional languages (when she already knows two) to help the students and their families navigate the early school environment. She is a warm and dedicated teacher with a passion for helping kids.”
