May 22, 2024 – This week, ADM welcomed over 160 interns to Decatur for on-site orientation to prepare for their 12-week internships. They also had a chance to see ADM culture in action by volunteering their time to pack meals for the needy.

This year’s interns represent over 50 universities across the U.S. and Canada, and following orientation, they will be dispersed to 35 locations across North America to begin their summer experience. Twenty-two of the interns in attendance are part of ADM’s Early University Talent Identification Program which allows ADM to cultivate relationships with highly potential, diverse talented students early in their university experience.

ADM interns are placed in an area that is aligned to their scholastic majors and interests. They gain real-life exposure working in plants, on the trading floor, shadowing sales calls, managing offsite audits, negotiating with Farmers or tasting baked products in research labs. During their internship experience, each student is assigned a special project that they manage. The interns then present their learnings and findings from the project to business leaders at the conclusion of their experience.

The interns took part in a number of activities throughout orientation week, including tours of the headquarters, sequestration center, innovation center, and labs. The interns also attended a Farm to Fork Dinner at the 1912 Barn in Niantic as well as a Taste of Decatur Dinner. One of the highlights was a meal packing event for Feed My Starving Children at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, In addition to being a supporter of Feed My Starving Children, ADM also provides the soy protein for the meal packages.
