May 28, 2024 | 1:39 PM

May 28, 2024- The Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA) is seeking nominations of outstanding older adults for possible induction into the Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame later this year.

The Hall of Fame honors current and long-time Illinois residents aged 65 and older, with inductees selected from public nominations in four categories: Arts, sports, and entertainment; Community service; Education; and Labor. Nominations can be submitted electronically.

“Being named to the Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame is a tremendous honor for individuals who have made a positive and lasting impact in their communities. I encourage anyone who has been inspired by an older adult in their life to submit a nomination soon before the June 1 deadline.” said IDoA Acting Director Mary Killough.

Nominators are expected to help coordinate and participate in an award ceremony this fall for their nominee. Nominations are evaluated by the Illinois Council on Aging. Since its inception 30 years ago, the Hall of Fame has inducted 137 individuals.
