June 9, 2024 – The City’s solar canopy project for the Decatur Civic Center parking lot is starting next week – Monday, June 10 and will limit parking in the lot.
The construction area will be fenced in and fencing will be pulled in as they complete sections of the installation. The city anticipates the construction will last through the end of July 2024.

This $5-million project will include the construction of parking canopies with solar panels on top. Once complete, canopies will cover approximately 2/3 of the parking lot. This entire project comes at no cost to the City, and the City will realize about $100,000+ in energy savings each year.
