June 16, 2024 – The Macon County Health Department (MCHD) and Macon Mosquito Abatement District (MMAD) are partnering to hold a tire drive to help stem the spread of mosquito born illnesses.
Old tires provide prime breeding ground for mosquitos as they hold standing water.
The tire recycling event will be held on Thursday, June 20th, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Macon County residents can bring up to 10 rimless passenger tires to the MMAD at 3755 Cundiff Road, Decatur.
Proof of residency is required, and no lawnmower, semi-truck, tractor tires, or tires from local shops will be accepted.
