July 22, 2024 -Kids, parents, and grandparents are invited to become scientist explorers, discovering and documenting the diverse wildlife at Weldon Springs at an upcoming event sponsored by University of Illinois Extension.
Bioblitz is a joint effort of DeWitt, Macon, and Piatt 4-H and Agriculture and Natural Resources from 9 to 11 a.m. on Aug. 3 at Weldon Springs State Park. Families of all sizes and shapes are encouraged to participate in this iNaturalist citizen science project to document species of birds, insects, mammals, fish, and more.
“This is a family-focused program to get youth, parents, and grandparents out into nature to explore their surroundings,” says 4-H Educator Henry Craft. “We are going to take it even one step further and be scientist explorers and share our findings with the iNaturalist program.”
There is no registration fee for this program; however, advanced registration is requested at go.illinois.edu/DMPbioblitz by Aug. 1
