July 25, 2024 – Employees of ADM and Earthmover Credit Union joined the Boys & Girls Club of Decatur Thursday to celebrate the conclusion of the club’s “Reading is Fun” summer program with a special celebration and ice cream social.

Each summer, the Boys & Girls Club of Decatur provides an opportunity for young children to build their reading skills through its summer reading program, “Reading is Fun.” The summer experience serves as a pathway for children to foster their love for reading and maintain those skills so that they are better equipped to begin school in the fall.

To help inspire literacy and learning, teams of ADM Decatur employees, through ADM Cares, spent the summer supporting the program by working with the children on their reading skills. Students, ages 7 to 13, were paired with ADM volunteers to practice reading for one hour, each day of the program.

Tamra Brannan, a volunteer and real estate specialist with ADM said the program helped the kids with any reading deficiencies they had in order to get them caught up and school ready.  “I think it’s a great opportunity to help the kids, who are really the foundation of our community and our future. Any way we can help them succeed is paramount to our own success as a community”

This is the fourth year that ADM has participated in the Reading is Fun program.
