July 29, 2024 -Memorial Medical is holding an educational session about the most common form of hearth rhythm disorder.

Bernard Lim, MD, PhD, a cardiac electrophysiologist with Memorial Specialty Care will host “Understanding Atrial Fibrillation: Prevention & Treatment” at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, in Decatur Memorial Hospital Classrooms A & B.

Dr. Lim will discuss signs and symptoms that may mean someone is experiencing atrial fibrillation, as well as the latest treatment methods and how it can be prevented.

“Atrial fibrillation causes the heart rate to be very irregular,” he said. “It’s very important for people to be aware of their risk, as this condition can increase the risk of stroke and heart failure. Fortunately, we have effective treatments that can reduce that risk.”

The event is free. Registration is available at memorial.health/dmh-community-education.
