August 4, 2024 – The Decatur Police Department conducted a traffic safety campaign throughout the month of July. The speed enforcement effort was conducted by the Decatur Police Department and other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities.
During the campaign, Decatur Police issued:
- 348 speeding citations
- 19 seat belt citations
- 6 child car seat citations
- 2 DUI arrests
- 14 felony arrests
- 18 suspended/revoked licenses
- 84 other citations
The speed enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
