HSHS St Mary’s announces new administrative leader, Dr. Timothy Layman

August 14, 2024 – HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital has announced Dr. Timothy Layman, DNP, MBA-HC, MSN, RN, NE-BC, has joined the hospital as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The CAO is a new role at HSHS that provides on-site, localized leadership overseeing nursing, operations, and all other organizational functions of the hospital. 

“In my first weeks in Decatur, I have already been blessed to meet so many great people here at St. Mary’s,” Layman said. “I look forward to embracing the community as well as enhancing outreach and public health.” 

Layman is a board-certified nurse executive whose expertise spans for-profit, private and university-based healthcare systems in operations, business, clinical medicine and finance. He most recently served in the HCA Healthcare Capital Division as Chief Nursing Officer at Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, Virginia. 

“St. Mary’s has an amazing opportunity to provide innovative health care in a soon-to-be revitalized space with a significant investment from HSHS in a community that desires local care options,” Layman said.
