Hello!

This year, I am helping ___(my school)_____ to raise funds and food for the WSOY Community Food Drive on October 4th. Will you join me?

I have learned that one in four families in my community is struggling with food insecurity. They could be my classmates, my teachers, or even my friends. By raising food and funds, I am helping to make an impact, making sure that no child or family in my community goes hungry.

All of the food raised will be donated to the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Northeast Community Fund, and Good Samaritan Inn. All funds and food collected will be distributed to food pantries across Macon County.

Every dollar and pound of food helps!

In addition, thanks to sponsors of the WSOY Community Food Drive, the schools that raise the most in food and funds have a chance to win cash prizes! First place will receive $2500. Second place will receive $1500, third $1000, fourth $750, and fifth $500!

Our school is excited to be raising funds and food for the WSOY Community Food Drive on October 4th and we are asking for your help! 

We feel it is important to encourage our students to be compassionate, charitable, and to learn that giving back not only benefits their community, but helps them grow into empathetic, and responsible individuals. 

Food Pantries in Macon County have seen a dramatic increase in families seeking food assistance. While 14% of households in Macon County are living below the federal poverty level* and utilize our local food pantries to supplement their food needs, many of these families are seeking assistance for the first time.  

Please consider giving to the WSOY Community Community Food Drive. Make sure to credit ______(your School)______ with your donation. Thanks to sponsors of the WSOY Community Food Drive, the schools that raise the most in food and funds have a chance to win cash prizes! First place will receive $2500. Second place will receive $1500, third $1000, fourth $750, and fifth $500.  

You can help in the following ways: 

• Spread the word! Tell everyone you know to credit___ (your school)_____with their food drive donation.  

• Write a check to the United Way of Decatur and Mid-Illinois, C/O Food Drive.  You can send the check with your student or mail directly to the United Way at 201 W Eldorado St., Decatur IL 62522.  Make sure to credit our school! 

• Donate online at NowDecatur.com on the Food Drive Page. 

• Send your child to school with donations of food or cash.  

• Support the WSOY Community Food Drive on October 4th from 6am to 6pm at the Kroger on Rt. 36. Donations made that day can also be credited to our school
