August 29, 2024 – The Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra (MDSO) will kick off its 2024-25 Performance Season with the annual Labor Day Pops Concert at the Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater on Monday, September 2, 2024, at 6 p.m.
The concert will feature a mix of movie themes, theater classics, and a tribute to the Nation’s Armed Forces. Highlights include performances of John Williams’ “Olympic Fanfare and Theme,” Samuel Ward’s “America the Beautiful,” and Tchaikovsky’s “Finale from 1812 Overture.” Violinist Dr. Henrik Karapetyan will also perform. Tickets are priced at $8 for lawn seating and $10 for the seated area.
“I am very excited about the MDSO Labor Day Pops Concert. It is my favorite time of the year to play outdoors on the lake at the Devon Amphitheater,” said MDSO Music Director Dr. William McClain. “Fun, friends, and family. Come out to hear your favorites. From movies, musicals, and jazz, there will surely be something for everyone!”
