September 4, 2024 – The 16th annual “Cruise 11 to Remember 9-11” event will take place on Sunday, September 8, at Decatur’s Central Park, featuring a car and bike show, entertainment, food, and a remembrance cruise.

The event is open to all vehicles, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. on the west side of Central Park. The registration fee is $11, and admission to the event is free. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Doug Hagen Memorial Scholarship Fund at MacArthur High School, which awards $500 annually to a senior student. Unique awards will be given to the top ten participants.

Event creator Ayn Owens stated, “Cruise 11 has raised tens of thousands of dollars for various military and veteran causes. We are proud to continue honoring a military cause in our 16th year by supporting the annual Hagen scholarship fund.”

Food will be available for purchase from 343 BBQ, and free entertainment will be provided by Brian Shartzer at the Central Park stage from noon until 2 p.m. The awards and 9-11 recognition service will take place at 2:15 p.m., followed by the 11-mile BG Nevitt Memorial yellow ribbon “Cruise” through Decatur.
