November 5, 2024 – It’s finally election day, and if you have not already voted, today is your last chance.
Those unsure of their polling place can click HERE to enter their address and find their designated polling location. Many polling locations have consolidated over the years, so if you have not voted since the last Presidential Election, you might want to double-check your location online. You can also vote today at the Macon County Early Voting Center if you are unsure. It is located at 151 West Wood Street.
All polling locations will be open today from 6am until 7pm. If you are already in line at 7pm, you will be allowed to vote.
A few reminders from the Macon County Clerk and Illinois State Board of Elections.
Electioneering is prohibited in all polling places and in the area within 100 feet of any polling place.
Electioneering is defined as working in support of, against or in opposition to, or in the interest of a candidate, party, or proposition and includes:
- Any political discussion.
- Wearing a campaign shirt, button, hat or any other item supporting a candidate.
- Displaying or distributing any political literature or brochure.
- Exception: Sample ballots MAY BE taken into the polling place.
In addition, election misinformation has been rampant and the Illinois State Board of Elections is encouraging anyone who encounters bad actors to report it. Bad actors may convey incorrect information about the election in an attempt to cause disruption to, or distrust of, the election process. Report the following types of misinformation through the link below:
- Information that you can cast a ballot online
- Information that you can cast a ballot via text
- Incorrect requirements to vote
- Incorrect polling locations or information about closures
- Incorrect polling place hours
- Incorrect information about who is eligible to vote
