Teacher Of The Month September 2024

By Shyler Kraus Nov 6, 2024 | 10:49 AM

We started off the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Month Season with a very special winner! The nominations opened up and poured in for many teachers all over Central Illinois, however one nomination in particular (along with several additional to back it up) stood out. This nomination was submitted by a former student who was so impacted by her former teacher, she went out of her way to show him some love -however many years later. Here’s what she had to say:

“As a graduate of the class of 2004, it’s been a long time since I had the privilege to sit in Mr. Campbell‘s classroom. But I know even 20 years later, he is still dedicating his days to enriching minds and creating resilient students. His unique blend of good-natured humor and sarcasm along with extensive knowledge of his materials make each class period something to look forward to. He can find ways to relate historical data with current events and help students to consider and understand long-term repercussions of political policies and decisions. He began his teaching career in 1996 in LaMoille, Illinois, before moving to the Warrensburg-Latham school district in 1998. In addition to teaching, Mr. Campbell has been a career coach – spending the last 20+ years as the Varsity Softball Coach. In his tenure at WL, he has also been affiliated with the boys basketball team. He coaches year-round, including summer youth league and travel teams, and relentlessly pursues excellence in all that he does. He is an outstanding example of a career teacher – someone willing to lay it all on the line to grow upstanding, capable, and resilient students. You could not ask for a better candidate for Teacher of the Month.”

So of course we had to include her in the surprise as we awarded Mr. Campbell at Warrensburg Latham our first Teacher of the Month for the 24-25 school year! He’s still making his impact on students as a teacher and a coach. His influence has stood the test of time and continues to leave his wisdom in the lives of his students. Congratulations Coach!
