WSOY and NowDecatur to host All-In Donation Day for Ronald McDonald House Charities on December 3rd

By Lindsay Romano Dec 1, 2024 | 6:23 AM

December 1, 2024 – This Tuesday, December 3rd, WSOY and NowDecatur will be hosting its 5th annual All-in Donation Day with two goals: to raise $50,000 to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois and fulfill its wish list items for the holidays.

To donate, call (217) 528-3314, or visit the website.

There are 3 simple ways to go All-In for RMHCCI: Give, Share, Ask!

  1. Donate using the form online – a gift of any amount makes a difference to the families. Your gift will help RMHCCI maintain its two Houses (Springfield and Peoria) as homes away from home for the families who stay there.
    • All funds raised on All-In Donation Day will be put toward areas of greatest need to keep families close when they need it the most. Read family stories!
  2. Share a Facebook post about All-In Donation Day.
  3. Ask a friend to make a gift and share a message about All-In Donation Day on social media, too!

RMHCCI provides private rooms, meals, WiFi, transportation to/from the hospital, laundry services, and more to families when their child or children are receiving medical care in either Springfield or Peoria. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois is fortunate to partner with local McDonald’s owners/operators on fundraisers, like Shamrock Shake sales and Give A Little Love, but McDonald’s as a corporation does not fund tbe houses.

Families are never asked to pay for staying at the House or using the services. The estimated cost is at least $127/night for a family to stay. In Springfield, on average, RMHC serves 300 families. In Peoria, they have the capacity to serve 700 families annually. Outside of Chicago, this is the only RMHC chapter in Illinois.

Macon County families also benefit greatly from RMHCCI. So far in 2024, they have provided 918 nights of stay to 30 families from Macon County.

WSOY and NowDecatur are also asking for donations to help families through wishlist items such as paper towels, toothbrushes, sheets, laundry detergent, anti-bacterial hand soap, and more.

For monetary donations, consider this:

  • $25 provides a family with free laundry services for a week
  • $50 provides all of the families in the house with snacks for a week (this helps with long days at the hospital)
  • $127 is the estimated cost for a family to stay at RMHCCI for one night
  • $254 provides two nights of stay for a family
  • $500 will provide a holiday meal for one house

Join Byers & Co. hosts Brian Byers and Nick Smith as they speak with the staff of RMHCCI as well as families helped thanks to All-in Day. Listen Live at 6 a.m. until 9 a.m. HERE on Tuesday, December 3rd.
