January 9, 2024 – The family of the child severely injured in a recent sledding accident has also started a GoFundMe account to help with possible future medical needs.

On January 5, 10 year old Charlie Spurlock and 10 year old Jack Brinkoetter, both of Mt Zion, were involved in an innertube sledding accident that tragically took Jack’s life. Charlie sustained serious injuries, including trauma to his head, and is currently in the ICU at St. John’s Hospital receiving treatment. His family says while he is stable at the moment, the full extent of his injuries is still uncertain.

“We deeply appreciate everyone who has reached out, sent prayers, or kept Charlie in their thoughts. Please continue to send your prayers and positive energy his way—he needs all the support he can get,” the family stated on their GoFundme page.
