February 5, 2025 – Pending favorable weather conditions, Red Tail Run Golf Course will be conducting controlled prescribed burns in the coming months.
Fire is a crucial part of maintaining a healthy Illinois landscape. At Red Tail Run Golf Course, the Park District uses prescribed burns as a strategic tool to manage prairie and woodland habitats, supporting a diverse range of plants and animals.
“By harnessing the natural process of fire, we are able to ensure the health and vitality of our ecosystem while creating a sustainable environment for all to enjoy,” the park district stated.
Safety is always the Park District’s first priority. Temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and moisture levels are among some of the factors that go into determining prescribed burns.
