February 17, 2025 – A new CONO neighborhood organization, The Nest (Neighbors Engaged in Strengthening Togetherness), has officially launched in the Meadowlark neighborhood “with the goal of fostering unity, collaboration, and civic engagement among residents”.

The group was founded under the umbrella of the parent nonprofit CONO.

“The Nest was created to fill the need of many residents seeking neighborhood connection, shared resources, and to bridge the gap between our neighborhood and ADM,” said founder Arianna Smith. “I’ve heard over and over how Decatur ‘isn’t what it used to be’ and I raise the question ‘why not?’. As a whole, we lack connection. Connection amongst ourselves, and to local government. The Nest has a mission to connect neighbors and to create a voice for the Meadowlark neighborhood in discussions that directly affect us.”

Meadowlark residents are encouraged to join The Nest and participate in upcoming initiatives. Meadowlark residents can reach out to founder Arianna Smith via email at thenest217@hotmail.com or follow them on Facebook at The Nest Meadowlark for updates and engagement opportunities.
