DANVILLE — The Danville NAACP will be hosting a candidate forum about the future of Danville at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bremer Center on the Danville Area Community College campus, 2000 E. Main St., Danville.

The discussion is open to all and will feature community leaders and aldermanic candidates who want to lead us into the future.

Vermilion Advantage Executive Director Mike Marron, Judge Thomas O’Shaughnessy and retired DACC President Stephen Nacco will be among those speaking.

NAACP Branch 3009 President Edward J. Butler said, “These local leaders will discuss the current issues and challenges facing the community and the role and duties of elected officials.”

Several candidates for Danville City Council alderman also have indicated they intend to participate. These include candidates Doug Ahrens, Tricia Teague, Jaleel Jones and Heidi Wilson. The audience will be invited to ask questions of the candidates.

The forum is free of charge and all are welcome.

“We need to grow as a community in a positive way,” Butler said. “The upcoming municipal election will be a critical step. Please join us for some thoughtful discussion.”
