March 26, 2025 – The Decatur Public Library has announced a special commemorative Color Run to celebrate its 150-year legacy of service to the Decatur community. The event, scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., will take participants on a journey through the library’s historical footprint in downtown Decatur.
The 2-mile untimed fun run begins and ends at the library’s greenspace, with a route specifically designed to pass by the various buildings that have housed the library throughout its century-and-a-half history.
“Participants will experience firsthand the evolution of this cherished community institution while passing notable landmarks such as the historic Library Block at 108 E. William Street. This Color Run represents more than just a celebration—it’s an interactive history lesson that connects our community to the library’s remarkable journey over 150 years,” said Alix Frazier, Librarian and member of the DPL 150th Anniversary Planning Committee. “We’re inviting everyone, regardless of running experience or ability, to join us in this milestone celebration.”
All registered participants will receive commemorative t-shirts (guaranteed for those who register by March 29, 2025) and color powder packets to enhance the festive atmosphere of the event. The untimed format welcomes participants of all skill and speed levels.
Registration is just $10.00. To register, click HERE.
