April 14, 2025 – A new partnership between Local Kiwanis clubs and the Children’s Museum of Illinois have resulted in a new feature to the museum to inspire young readers.
The new Little Free Library is a free community book-sharing resource located outside of the Children’s museum. The project, unvieled by the Children’s Museum of Illinois, Kiwanis Early Birds, and the Golden K Kiwanis Club last week, will offer a rotating selection of children’s books.
“Data shows that access to books is key to sparking creativity and learning,” said Rikki Parker, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Illinois. “With the Little Free Library, we hope to create a space where children can discover new stories, share their favorites, and build a love for reading.”
Doug Warren added, “Kiwanis is dedicated to serving children in our community and beyond, and we’re thrilled to partner with the Museum on this initiative. By making books more accessible, we’re fostering a love of reading that can last a lifetime.”
The community is encouraged to participate by donating gently used children’s books to keep the library stocked and vibrant.
