United States Air Force Band Coming to Decatur April 29th, Featuring Active-Duty Decatur Native

April 27, 2025 – Millikin University will host Airmen of Note, the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force on April 29th including Decatur native M.Sgt. David McDonald, drummer for the group.

“In my 19 years with the Airmen of Note, we’ve had the privilege to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally, but it has been well over two decades since the ‘Note’ appeared in Decatur,” comments M.Sgt. McDonald. “I am delighted to be performing again in my hometown on this Midwest tour, in service of the Central Illinois community and its many distinguished military Veterans.”

Airmen of Note performs instrumental and vocal arrangements that honor those who have served, inspire American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and connect with the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States of America.

The band’s commitment to musical excellence has earned the respect of some of the world’s most renowned jazz artists. The group broadcasts its Jazz Heritage Series on National Public Radio (NPR) and delivers recorded music to millions of jazz fans worldwide through hundreds of media outlets.
