May 20, 2025 –

The Governor Richard J. Oglesby Mansion and Museum will host an open house on Sunday, May 25, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 421 West William Street in Decatur.

Guests are encouraged to take photos inside the home. Tours will be led by volunteer docents, including current and past members of the mansion’s board of directors. A suggested donation of $5 per adult and $2 per child will support preservation of the museum’s contents.

This month’s tour will feature authentic clothing and accessories once owned by Governor Oglesby and his family, including his overcoat, top hat, his wife’s mourning dress, hat pins, and other historical items.

The Oglesby Mansion is located in the Millikin Heights historic district and is the only museum dedicated to the legacy of Governor Richard J. Oglesby. The home is owned by the Macon County Conservation District, while the contents are maintained by the Governor Oglesby Mansion, Inc. board of directors.

The mansion will continue to host open houses on the last Sunday of each month through November. More information is available at www.oglesbymansion.org or on the mansion’s Facebook page.
