May 26, 2025 – The City of Decatur will collect tree debris from private properties due to recent storm damage beginning on May 27

Tree debris must be placed on the curb, and the city asks that you call them to report/request your pickup.
A reminder that Decatur residents have unlimited weekly yard waste collection as part of basic service. If you have smaller debris that can fit in yard waste containers, please use that service if you are able. If you cannot utilize the yard waste service:
  • call 217-875-4820 to report/request your pickup by Friday, May 23
  • trees and limbs must be brought to the curb no later than Monday, May 26
  • trees and limbs must be cut so they are no longer than eight feet in length
  • the city will NOT collect any other garbage or debris, such as parts of a fence or shed, building materials, etc. If these are on the tree and limb debris pile, none of the debris will be collected
Report your pickup to the City (217-875-4820). Public Works crews will begin pickup on Tuesday, May 27. Please avoid parking in front of debris piles once pickup begins as this will prevent crews from reaching them with their equipment. Due to liability issues, the city cannot come on private property, so it must be at the curb.
