June 4, 2025 – The Decatur Police Department issued 17 citations as part of its Memorial Day “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” traffic enforcement campaign.
The campaign aimed to promote seat belt use and safe driving habits. Six citations were issued for seat belt violations, and one for a child car seat violation.
Additional enforcement actions included five DUI arrests, one fugitive apprehension, two citations for driving on suspended or revoked licenses, and three for distracted driving.
“Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts save lives,” said Sgt. Steve Hagemeyer.
The campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
