June 8, 2025 – The Decatur Area Arts Council opened their newest exhibit, The Art of Japan, Friday as part of its International Arts Experience. The exhibit, which runs through July 24th is in partnership with Decatur Sister City Tokorozawa, Japan.
The event opened with a full house featuring traditional Okinawan dance and drum performances by Okinawa Eisa Yui, family art activities, a judo demonstration, and a Matcha Bar with Japanese sweets.
Additional activities included ikebana flower arranging, Japanese calligraphy, and origami taught by students visiting from Tokorozawa, Japan.
DAAC’s International Arts Camp, Discover the Art of Japan, runs June 11th–13th from 1 to 3:30 p.m. for kids.
