June 23, 2025 – Decatur Moves – Microtransit Service will be holding a public forum this week to educate the community about a new transportation service.
Micro-transit bridges the gap between the city’s traditional fixed-route buses (the big buses) and ride-hailing services such as Uber. The city has a fleet of ADA-accessible vans that will provide curb-to-curb shared rides within designated zones. Riders are picked up and dropped off at stops, and may share trips with others traveling in similar time frames.
The city is currently developing an app that will be used to book rides and the service will be introduced in phases as it scales up.
People who have questions can attend one of two public forums this week in the Madden Auditorium at the Decatur Public Library:
- June 24, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
- June 25, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
