June 24, 2025 – On Saturday, the Macon County Animal Control and Care Center is celebrating their 19th birthday with a “paw-some” celebration.
The Macon County Animal Control and Care Center opened its doors at its location on E. Parkway Drive in 2006 after a long history located in run down conditions. Funding for the shelter was made possible through the generosity of the community and the work of the Decatur Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation, which was founded in 1999 for the purpose of raising money to build a new shelter.
The celebration on Saturday June 28th will include an open house, free Mimi’s Frosty to the first 100 people who attend, giveaways and a special pet adoption rate of $19. that day.
