Bryan E. Smith announces intention to run for Macon County Clerk

June 25, 2025 – Bryan E. Smith has announced his intention to run for Macon County Clerk in the 2026 Democratic Primary.

Smith is a resident of Long Creek Township and a 1987 Millikin alum with a B.A. Degree in Political Science. Smith worked  for 35 years at the Township Officials of Illinois and served for 25 years representing Illinois on the National Association of Towns and Townships (NATaT) Board of Directors.

He retired from the Township Officials of Illinois in 2021 and started BS Consulting. Smith has served many years as a Precinct Committeeperson in Long Creek Township and has served the last 5 years as Chairman of the Long Creek Township Democrats. Smith served for 18 years as an elected member of the Macon County Board and was elected Chairman of the Macon County Democratic Central Committee in April 2024.

“There is no Republican or Democratic way to issue birth, death or marriage certificates. There is no Republican or Democratic way to run fair and accessible elections defined by integrity. The hard-working taxpayers of this county deserve the best,” said Smith, referring to key responsibilities of the Macon County Clerk’s Office.
