Decatur Public Schools seeking mentors for DPS Prep Academy students

July 29, 2025 – The Innovative Programs Department at Decatur Public Schools is looking for dedicated, caring individuals to serve as mentors for students in the DPS Prep Academy program.

“By becoming a mentor, you’ll help guide and support high school students from Eisenhower and MacArthur as they work toward both their high school diploma and an associate’s degree, all while attending DPS. This is a meaningful opportunity to empower students and invest in their future. Be a trusted adult advocate and champion, offering encouragement and support throughout their Prep Academy journey,” said DPS61.

The Prep Academy is a partnership between District #61 and Richland Community College, offering selected DPS students the opportunity to earn their high school diploma AND an Associate’s Degree from Richland upon completion of the four-year program during high school, all for free.

Those interested can sign up at  www.dps61.org/PrepMentor.  For more information about the program, visit www.dps61.org/PrepAcademy or contact Ashley Grayned at agrayned@dps61.org.
