Little Learners, Big Adventures: Rock Springs Announces Their Fall Preschool Program Lineup

August 21, 2025 – The Macon County Conservation District has announced several fall programs lined up geared toward preschool children ages 1-5 at the Rock Springs Nature Center. These hour-long programs are designed to get little ones outdoors and exploring through play. 

The programs, offered year-round, are perfect for young children to explore nature with an adult buddy through crafts, activities, songs, stories, and outdoor exploration. 

For weekday fun and learning, Mini Camps offer two topics per month, with two days to choose from per topic. Unless stated otherwise, the camps run from 9:30-10:30am. The cost is $8/child. Register online. 

Wooly Worms – Learn about those fuzzy worms crossing the road and find out where they’re going. Tuesday, September 2 or Thursday, September 4. 

Bushy Squirrels – Discover why squirrels always seems so busy and find out what they’re hiding. Tuesday, September 16 or Thursday, September 18. 

Ruby Red Ladybugs – Go on a search for these crimson beetles, learn about their lives, and see how many spots you can count. Tuesday, October 7 or Thursday, October 9. 

Fuzzy Bats – Explore the lives of nature’s only flying mammal and learn what it means to be nocturnal. Tuesday, October 21 or Thursday, October 23. 

Colorful Leaves – Take a walk to look for leaves and see how many different colors you can find. Tuesday, November 4 or Thursday, October 6. 

Funky Turkeys – Learn about wild turkeys and the curious lives they lead. Tuesday, November 18 or Thursday, November 20. 

If weekdays are hard to swing, Preschool Peepers are offered one Sunday each month. Unless stated otherwise, these programs run from 2-3pm. The cost is $2/child. Register online. 

Marching Ants – Prepare to get dirty as we learn about the life of these tiny creatures and go outside to search for some.

Fall Colors – Discover the colors of fall as we do a craft, read a story, and go outside in search of fall hues. 

Silly Spiders – Learn about our misunderstood spider friends through a story, craft, and outdoor exploration.
