September 25, 2025 -Due to recent rainfall, some jurisdictions in Macon County have seen improved drought conditions. As a result, officials have lifted temporary burn restrictions in several areas.
The following communities are now PERMITTED to return to their previous local burn guidelines:
- Blue Mound
- City of Decatur
- • Harristown
- • Niantic
- • South Wheatland
- • Warrensburg
- Forsyth
The Macon County EMA is reminding residents that even if restrictions have been lifted in your area, please use common sense and take proper precautions when burning, inlcuding clearing dry brush and debris from around your burn area, not burning near buildings, vehicles, or other ignition sources, and always having a water hose or fire extinguisher nearby.
