October 3, 2025 – Kroger shoppers across Decatur stepped up in August, rounding up their purchases and making direct donations to support the WSOY Community Food Drive. Altogether, the campaign brought in over $8000 to help fight hunger in Macon County ahead of the October 3rd drive. Kroger then rounded that amount up to an even $10,000. The store also donated $30,000 to split between Crossing Prescription Garden Program and Northeast Community Fund.
Throughout the month, customers at all Decatur Kroger locations were invited to round up their totals at checkout, or add a direct donation of $1, $3, $5, or $10. Shoppers also had the option to purchase $5 and $10 pre-packed food bags, to be donated directly to local families in need. The effort not only raised critical funds but also stocked shelves for area pantries.
In addition to the round-up campaign, Kroger has announced a $15,000 gift to Crossing Healthcare’s Prescription Garden Program AND a $15,000 gift to Northeast Community Fund!
Kroger’s efforts are part of its national Zero Hunger, Zero Waste initiative, a company-wide commitment to end hunger in the communities it serves and eliminate waste across its operations. From supporting local food drives to investing in programs that expand access to fresh, healthy food, Kroger continues to address food insecurity in both immediate and long-term ways.
