October 3, 2025 – The WSOY Community Food Drive added a brand-new twist this year with the first-ever Teacher Challenge, thanks to the generosity of the Reed and Morris Families.

Today, the winner was announced live at Kroger in Airport Plaza. Congratulations to Sarah Pritts, whose classroom raised an incredible 1878 pounds of food the $1,000 grand prize in this year’s Teacher Challenge.

The second-place prize of $500 went to Julie Keith of Maroa Forsyth Grade School. She also recognized for inspiring their students to make a difference.

There was also a special recognition to the first runner-up, Traci Friel of Our Lady of Lords School, who raised $154.25 in cash/check donations and 762 lbs. of nonperishable food.

This new Teacher Challenge ran alongside the school-wide competition, giving educators two chances to win while helping local families in need. Organizers say the response shows how teachers can inspire not just their classrooms—but entire school communities—to rally around the fight against hunger.
