October 12, 2025 – God’s Shelter of Love hosted its annual Blue Jean Ball on Thursday, drawing community members together in support of local women and children experiencing homelessness. The event took place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

The event featured food, live music, and opportunities for attendees to learn more about the organization’s mission and ongoing efforts in the Decatur area. “It’s a great Thursday night, the weather is great, we’re riding bulls, we have photo booths and line dancing. But more importantly, we’re raising money for a great cause taking care of women and kids in crises that are homeless…. This is my last Blue Jean Ball, I’m stepping down from the shelter. We just announced the new Executive Director her name is Arianna Fane and I’m excited for the future and where the shelter is going.” said Former Executive Director of God’s Shelter of Love Dan Watkins.

“We’re showing appreciation to Dan Watkins who’s been here for many years and is exiting as I come to fill his shoes….It’s impactful, I’m grateful for the wisdom and knowledge that I have and my experience allows me to pour back into the Decatur community, I’m blessed….We need volunteers, we accept donations, you can volunteer at the retail shop. You can bring items to the women and the children in the shelters.” said the new Executive Director of God’s Shelter of Love Arianna Fane.

Proceeds and donations collected during the evening went toward supporting God’s Shelter of Love’s programs, which provide shelter, resources, and long-term support for women and children facing homelessness.
